The man behind Jake's

Jon Kaye launched Jake's Artisan Foods as a part-time operation early in 2013, and took it full-time later that year.

 

His career trajectory towards that state was not an obvious one, having spent the previous 25 years as a journalist in areas completely unrelated to pork pies.

 

But with cooking in his blood, he busied himself in the kitchen, spent some time honing his skills in restaurants, and ignorantly laid the foundations for what was to come.

 

Which was a batch of pork pies for domestic consumption that proved so good, and so unbelievably different to anything on the market, that Jon was urged to sell them. This he did after four months of tinkering and perfecting the recipe for what is now regarded by many as the best pork pie they have ever had.

 

Is the rest history? We'll know in 25 years.

 

Jon lives in Petersfield with his wife, two children, several chickens and Mason the Pie Dog, who can't believe his luck.
